The Jazz Training Workbook is a one-of-a-kind, comprehensive training system designed to help pianists develop the skills, understanding, and independence needed to internalize jazz. Created through years of teaching, performing, transcribing, and conversations with over a hundred pianists about the frustrations and roadblocks they encountered while learning jazz piano, this workbook is carefully built to provide a clearer and effective path forward. Rather than encouraging dependence on endless videos, courses, and scattered resources, the workbook equips students with the tools needed to train and develop themselves as jazz musicians.

Organized into seven major sections — the mind, rhythm, right hand, ear, chords, musicianship, and practice— the workbook combines practical exercises with listening examples, guided practice modules, musical discoveries, and personal tips from Timothy. The Jazz Training Workbook is both a structured training program and a long-term musical reference. It offers a thorough and organized catalog of the core concepts, systems, and skills used by jazz pianists.

I have the spiral bound version. Extremely thorough and inspiring structure that teaches you about so many aspects of jazz theory, and cool improv tricks and techniques.

I highly recommend it as a component of your jazz studies as there is no other book like this on the market, this is a fantastic core book.

Timothy Gondola's _Jazz Training Workbook_ is not another theory book - it's a proper training manual.

At 300 pages and 41 lessons across 7 parts, it covers what most books skip: _Train Your Mind, Train Your Rhythm, Train Your Right Hand, Train Your Ear, Train Your Chords, Train Your Playing,_ and _How To Practice._

What I like most is how practical it is. Instead of just explaining voicings or scales, Gondola gives you exercises, fill-in-the-blanks, improvisation methods, chord-scale workouts, rhythm changes, 2-5-1s, and listening links that show how the greats actually use them. The colour-coded notation and clickable contents make it easy to follow on a tablet.

It was built with students' feedback, so you get practice routines for real life — 10-minute, 30-minute, 1-hour, and 2-hour versions for beginner to advanced. Whether you have 5 minutes or 2 hours, you know what to practice.

It is written for piano, but guitarists and horn players will get a lot from the harmony, ear training and rhythm sections too.

If you've been overwhelmed by jazz, this workbook finally gives you structure. It's the one I've been waiting for.

Mr. Gondola is always kind, helpful, and very quick to respond to any question or concern.

His approach to teaching jazz improvisation is excellent. As someone who already has a musical background, I was looking for a course that would go beyond the basics and help me develop a deeper understanding of jazz and practical improvisation skills—and this is exactly what I found. I also noticed that he offers courses for beginners, so his teaching can suit musicians at different levels.

All the course materials, both digital and printed, are very well organized and thoughtfully structured. They lead you step by step toward a deeper understanding of the music and, most importantly, toward confident and skilled playing.

It is clear that Mr. Gondola is a highly educated and accomplished musician, with strong foundations in both classical music and jazz, as well as rich teaching experience.

Highly recommended to anyone who wants to truly understand jazz and learn how to improvise, not just memorize patterns.

As a long-time fan of piano jazz, I have to say I am so excited to start identifying concepts among my favorite professionals. And I am humbled by all the rules I will need to master in order to play anything original. But your book provides a systematic path to follow, and this 80 year-old has time on her hands to give it a shot!
